The 3 Types of Sex — which have you done?

Not all sex is the same.

I’m not talking about one-night stand vs. serious relationship sex, no, it’s much more complicated. It’s easy to put sex in one category because it satisfies one primal output of biological needs.

However, consider it’s not all the same experience, but largely the same result:

  • physical pleasure
  • emotional connection
  • stress relief
  • self-expression
  • a little self-esteem boost.

Now, switching back to the sexual experience, the journey to get there is different, and this is where the two types of sex come in:

  1. Novel (above image) — someone new and exciting. It is likely a trade-off on having much emotional connection, but do it for the plot. This could be the one-night stand but largely qualifies as anything that is not within a safe, steady relationship built on trust.
  2. Trusted (below image) — more in the wholesome camp of being in an established relationship with a partner where there is much more intimacy and bonding in the experience. Of course, noting a long-term relationship or marriage does NOT equal trusted sex as relationships are very complicated. I would think of this as the “Type 2 fun” kind of sex. More work is put…
